Jim Ridl – Piano
Jim Ridl is a New York City-based jazz pianist, composer, and educator known for his expressive playing and inventive compositions. Raised on a farm in North Dakota, he discovered his passion for jazz early on and earned a Bachelor's degree in Scoring and Arranging from the University of Colorado at Denver. Ridl has performed internationally with artists like Joe Locke, Dave Liebman, and the Mingus Big Band. His tenure with guitar legend Pat Martino spanned a decade, resulting in several acclaimed recordings. Ridl also serves on the faculties of the New York Jazz Workshop and The City College of New York.
Dean Johnson – Bass
Dean Johnson is a seasoned jazz bassist whose versatile style has made him a sought-after collaborator in the jazz world. Born in Seattle, Washington, in 1956, he studied under renowned bassist Gary Peacock and attended Berklee College of Music. Since moving to New York in 1980, Johnson has performed with a diverse array of artists, including Gerry Mulligan, with whom he worked extensively for over a decade. His collaborations span legends like Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman, and Wynton Marsalis, showcasing his adaptability across various jazz styles.
Tim Horner – Drums
Tim Horner is a dynamic jazz drummer and composer with a career spanning over four decades. A native of Roanoke, Virginia, he graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1979 and moved to New York City the following year. Horner has performed at premier venues like The Village Vanguard and Birdland, collaborating with jazz greats such as Hank Jones, Joe Locke, and the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra. He has contributed to over 250 recordings and leads his own projects, including albums like "The Head of the Circle." Horner also shares his expertise as an educator at New Jersey City University.
