Zach is available for private lessons in the greater New York City area (also sometimes available for private lessons while on tour) and is always generally available online.
Zach's lessons are most appropriate for:
Serious pre-college students
Experienced amateur players
The primary focus of these lessons will be the development of one's individual language as an improviser. Special consideration is given to instrumental technique and musical aesthetics.
ZACH'S BACKGROUND AS A TEACHER
Zach's teaching resumé stretches back over twenty years and is preceded by an intensive and diverse education in both classical and jazz music.
Zach received his Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from Northwestern University as a student of Dr. Myron Kartman who himself is a celebrated protégé of the renown pedagogue Max Rostal.
Zach has participated in jazz workshops and camps such as the Jamey Aebersold Workshop, Stanford Jazz, Skidmore Jazz Institute, Banff, and Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead. He has studied privately with jazz artists such as Michael Kocour, Bobby Broom, Orbert Davis, John Moulder, Garry Dial, Kenny Werner, Chris Potter, Phil Markowitz, and Dave Liebman.
Zach is currently 'Artist In Residence' at Temple University in Philadelphia and adjunct faculty at The New School in New York City. He has also taught at the Mike Block String Camp in Vero Beach, FL since 2012.
