Practice with Zach: A 14-Day Live Zoom Series (Jan 16–29)
I’m excited to invite you into something new this January.
From January 16–29, I’ll be hosting a daily live Zoom session called Practice with Zach, running 11:00 AM–12:00 PM EST. That’s 14 sessions total, including weekends.
This is not a lecture, and it’s not a technique class in the traditional sense. It’s a real-time practice room, and you’re invited to practice alongside me as I prepare for the January 31 premiere of my new orchestral suite.
What this series is
This is a chance to join me in the actual process of getting ready for a high-stakes performance, the real work, the problem-solving, the musical decisions, and the daily commitment.
I’ll be focusing on the kind of playing that prepares me to perform with an orchestra and to improvise extended solo passages and cadenzas. That includes continuity, sound, rhythm, pacing, form, and improvisational thinking, without framing it in a way that’s only useful for “crossover” musicians.
Even if you’re not preparing crossover music, the process applies to anyone working toward a meaningful performance, developing longer-form ideas, or trying to build a more focused and consistent practice habit.
What a session looks like (60 minutes)
Each session is intentionally tight and focused:
~45 minutes of playing
A quick Q&A at the end
Expect mostly music, minimal talking, and technique addressed only as it serves the moment.
Recordings included
All sessions will be recorded, and recordings will be available to registered participants.
